How to insulate garage ceiling?

Hi,

I have moved to my new house for a year. The garage is super hot in the summer. I want to insulate the garage ceiling before summer coming. I have no idea about what product I should use, how to do it and what tools do I need.  Do I need to insulate the garage door as well?  It will be great if I can get some advice.

It's great that you've decided to insulate your garage ceiling. Here are a few things to consider before buying your insulation.

* What "R" value to install. The "R" value is how resistant the insulation is to heat transfer. A higher R-value means a higher insulating rating. Some states recommend certain "R" values to maximize the effectiveness of the insulation. Speak to your local store specialist for the recommended rating in your state.
* How much area do you need to cover? For example, one bag of Earthwool R4.0 195mm x 580mm x 1160mm 12.11m² Insulation Ceiling Batt - Pack of 18 will cover an area of twelve square meters. 
* I recommend using GI Building Sciences 10mm 0.5 x 23m 11.5m² Reflecta Garage Door Insulation for your garage door.
