How to install laundry bench and cabinets?

Hello,

I’m new here and would like an advice on how to install bench and cabinets to our Laundry- we would like the bench and cabinets to run an L shape that joins the sink. We would also like over head cupboards. Any help is much appreciated.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @casey7. Thank you so much for joining us and sharing your question about installing benchtops and cabinets in your laundry.

Before I make any recommendations, would it be possible for you to post the measurements of your laundry? This will allow us to make an accurate sketch of your laundry with appropriately sized cabinets. There are so many ways to lay out your laundry, did you have a specific purpose in mind? Do you want more storage? Do you want a broom cupboard? This is a good time to imagine what you would like to go into your laundry.

Here is a sketch of cabinets that might fit into your laundry. I've placed wall sizes to give you an idea of what could fit. The cabinets I've used are all from the Kaboodle Cabinet Range. If you can post your actual wall sizes, I will be able to adjust the sketch and place the cabinets that can actually fit in the space. I can then provide you with a cabinet list. Please have a look at the sketch and if you wish to see it in another configuration, please let me know.

i would prefer the upper cupboards to stop at the washing machine Instead of all

the way. As for the long cupboard , I prefer bottom cupboard with benchtop and upper cupboard instead of a long one.

i will provide the wal measurement soo.

My plan was to change the laundry to this, with an opening at the top.

I've modified your drawing to fit into your laundry. Did you want to keep your metal laundry tub or did you want to replace it with a cabinet so that your benchtop can go all the way from end to end? If you want to replace it then does that mean your wall size is actually bigger? Please tell me so that I can adjust that side of your laundry.

Here is the cabinet list.

I was referring to the other side where your laundry tub is. If you are keeping the tub then you will only need one 600 base cabinet. If you are planning to go ahead with this project just show the In store Kitchen Expert this drawing and they will be able to quote you the entire laundry set.

Thanks , I’m planning on keeping the sink but probably new base cabinet.

how do I install all that as I don’t have the tools? And with current restrictions I can’t go to store to get the quote yeah?

If you are removing the steel laundry tub, your current basin will not fit onto the benchtop. I've actually placed the Mondella Rococo Square Single Bowl Sink into your design. I'm sorry that you're not able to go to the store. I suggest refining your plan and considering what else you would like in your laundry. Once the restrictions have eased up, I recommend visiting the In-Store Kitchen Specialist. If you feel that building it is currently outside of your skillset, you can ask the kitchen specialist for installation services.

Hi Eric,

The materials you Have listed above is that what I need in order to achieve the pic u drew ? I’ve also Changed my mind instead of the wood benchtop I would like a laminated marble benchtop...

Also the side where the washing machine is, do I need to give you the measurement, as the drawing you have drawn is that the actual size including the washing machine? U mentioned I will need 2x of those cabinets to replace the curren laundry tub I have, is that the correct size of cabinets taking the washing machine into account?

what about the above open shelves, what type are they,

are they light like an oak look ?
Also if I want to rip out the current plastic laundry cabinet where the basin is and replace with a cabinet one. Is this doable? This means I will need new basin and tap.

I hope this is not too much of a confusion, but I really hope we can achieve this plan.

The cabinets I've listed should fit into your laundry space. You won't be able to use the sink from the old laundry tub. I suggest using the Mondella Rococo Square Single Bowl Sink as your new laundry tub. You can use SpecRite 1200 x 600 x 18mm Merbau Panel for timber shelving. It's ok to use a laminated benchtop the timber benchtop I placed in your sketch was just a suggestion.

I've taken into account the size of your washing machine. There is enough space for a new cabinet once you remove your old laundry tub. Can you please tell me which is the closest store to you? I will be more than happy to make inquiries for you.
