This portable table tennis table can be set up at the perfect height for kids and is easy to store away.

The project
I am always trying to find new ways to entertain my kids. My two youngest kids are energiser bunnies who don’t stop until they crash in bed. They are also very competitive. We have a table tennis table but it’s too big for them so I built a small portable version that sits perfectly on their outdoor setting.
I attached two1200 x 900 x 16mm MDF panels together using hinges and added handles so I can easily set up or store it away. We have to be careful with moisture because of the MDF but it has survived with light rain. I used primer for protection and it helps as a base coat.

I used painter's masking tape to create lines on the MDF panels and cover these lines while painting green chalkboard paint across the two surfaces. It helps to peel the tape off while the paint is wet so that the colour doesn't run and so you don't peel up the surface.

Everything was purchased at Bunnings except for the table tennis set. The kids absolutely love it and even adults can join in for some fun family competition.
