I’m trying to figure out which base cabinet will work on the first base cabinet. the planner has placed a 600mm 1 draw base cabinet with a microwave box on top but I need to put a small induction cook top above the microwave which won’t work that way ( ie having to cut into the microwave box )
Would I be better to put a 600mm oven base cabinet in that position and install a draw myself at the bottom , a shelf to hold the microwave and then a shelf above the microwave to cover the base of the induction cooktop ? Or do you have another suggestion ?
Hello @Msmaloo
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen cabinet.
I propose changing your cabinet layout with a smaller sink cabinet and a smaller drawer set so that you will have a proper gap between the sink and your cooktop. The microwave cabinet can stay the same saving you from having a custom cabinet made. Since it is a small kitchen the cabinet choice is more user friendly as the plates, cups, saucers and cutlery can fit into a 450mm drawer set and the pot and pans can go under the cooktop cabinet.
Unfortunately, you can't have the cooktop too close to the sink as it becomes a cooking hazard. I've placed a sample image below to give you an idea of the new layout. Please disregard the cooking appliance, I only put it there for reference.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
