I am planning to get a cordless Ryobi lawn mower: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-lithium-36v-5-0ah-18-brushless-lawn-mower-kit_p0088131
And I also need a drill and looking at this one: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-drill-driver-skin-only_p0096074 which is a skin only. How do I know if I can use the mower's battery for this drill? And in general how do I tell which Ryobi products will share batteries? Thanks.
Hi @MitchellMc - thanks for the suggestion. Based on some of the comments I see in this discussion, I'll speak to the manager at the Manor Lakes store and see what they can do for me
@leross13 - you seem to be happy with the outcome you got from Bunnings for this chainsaw / battery issue … what did they do for you ? Or is it secret squirrel ?
@Paulmooly - how's your chainsaw body holding up after the mod you did with the die grinder ? is it still in one piece ? Asking for a friend …
Hello @shnoof
Let me tag @leross13 and @Paulmooly as well to make them aware of your queries.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
The mod with the die grinder was perfect and worked well, probably better to see if the local Bunnings will provide a replacement first as this is what I ended up getting in the end which was excellent service from my local store, doing it this way you get new for old and a 12mth warranty 👍
Hello @Paulmooly
Thank you very much for that update. It's good to hear that everything got sorted out for you.
@MitchellMc @EricL @Paulmooly
Thanks for your help guys. I took the old chainsaw and new battery to my local Bunnings at Manor Lakes to show them the problem and after some confused looks and a few phone calls Ashley and Thomas in the Tool Shop sorted me out with a replacement chainsaw (RCS36B1).
They had to get in touch with the Ryobi rep, who had to ask the Ryobi Product Manager, who said this had happened before and authorised a replacement. Very happy and impressed that Bunnings and Ryobi stood by and owned the claim about battery compatibility and provided such a great outcome. Ashley and Thomas in the Tool Shop were very helpful and understanding, going through the chain of command to reach someone who could address the problem. I can't speak highly enough of all involved. Thanks again Mitchell, Eric and Paul for pointing me in the right direction !
Cheers
Tony (aka Shnoof)
Hi Tony (@shnoof),
I'm really glad to hear the team at Manor Lakes and the team at Ryobi were able to help out.
I'm sure my colleagues Mitchell and Eric will also be thrilled to hear it when they are back online.
Thanks for getting back to us.
