The project:
I purchased my grandparents home as it’s always been a dream of mine since a child to own it and keep it in the family it’s a beautiful well kept large home but outdated I want to keep it how it is with just some modernising I love a big pantry and it reminds me of my nan so it had to stay but it was so outdated and not practical I had a vision but only a small budget and with the odd measurements I dived into Bunnings and found a way to make my dream pantry
- Materials:
4x 550 mm white Mat photo shelf
melamine
Pre painted pine
Lungna Three drawer unit
Liquid nails
Nails
No more gaps
Paint
- Tools:
Hammer
Hand saw
Drop saw or circular saw
Level
Pencil
Tap measure
- Step 1:
remove all old shelves and pine gut everything but the gyprock
- Step 2:
clean area
Paint room
- Step 3:
assemble draws
And insert into middle of room fix to back wall
Measure the width depth and mark out melamine board and cut and insert to top of draws
The measure the gap each side of draws and cut melamine to insert in gaps liquid Nail and the nail then to the top inserted on top of draws do the same to top board
- Step 4:
Now measure your desire height you want the first shelf ( have the containers or inserts you wish to use handy and measure the tallest items you will have in pantry to know your required height)
mark your height on each side and back then measure the depth width u desire use your level to draw the lines then mark where you will put the pine shelf supports the mark out the required lengths needed for the supports and cut
Liquid nail and then nail your supports into place using your level ontop of the insert while securing to wall
then cut your melamine shelf and again liquid nail and nail into place again use your level to make sure it’s level
repeat till all shelves are finished
- Step 5:
insert your picture rails where desired
( I cut my melamine shelves to suit the size of picture shelves to fit)
