Many Aussies and Kiwis are discovering the satisfaction and cost savings from completing D.I.Y. projects around the house and garden.

This D.I.Y. July we are again searching for Australia and New Zealand's best D.I.Y. projects of the year and offering the opportunity to get your work featured in the Bunnings Magazine.

It’s fantastic to see many high-quality projects shared already. Please don’t hesitate to show off your own handiwork as well as adding your comments and likes to the entries submitted to our project gallery

To participate, press the Share a project button at the top of any page on the Bunnings Workshop website. Include a brief description of your project, tools and materials used, the steps you undertook as well as before and after photos. Make sure you select the D.I.Y. July Australia or D.I.Y. July New Zealand label according to your country of residence before hitting the post button and submitting your entry.

If you need a hand with creating your post, please don't hesitate to ask. Our team will be more than happy to assist.

There are seven categories in this year's project search:

  • Best bathroom or laundry makeover

  • Best kitchen makeover

  • Best paint project

  • Best small project or upcycling makeover

  • Best renter-friendly project

  • Best community project

  • Best outdoor project.

Our judging panel includes Workshop's D.I.Y. expert Mitch Mclean, Taubmans colour specialist Fiona Dawson, Bunnings trend and design manager Jane Wright, Tom Neilly from 3M and Bunnings Magazine editor Lisa Green.

Two time winner and experienced renovator Claire O’Connell (@Renowayoflife) encourages everyone to have a go at their own D.I.Y. projects. “The thing to remember is that it’s okay to make mistakes,” she says. “Almost everything can be fixed or touched up. You’re more capable than you think.”

Australian winners will have their work featured in the September issue of the Bunnings Magazine, while winners in New Zealand will be featured in the Spring issue. Both are released on August 28.

Many thanks to the supporters of the project search this year: Taubmans, PPG Paints and 3M. We appreciate your support of the Workshop community and encouraging people to have a go at their own home improvement projects.

We look forward to seeing your projects soon. Don't forget that entries close at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday July 27, 2025. Good luck!

Making a Splash

Hi Jason,

I've entered a couple of times, but have realised I placed my entries in the wrong category. What category would I place a caravan renovation in?

Thanks very much.

Hi @LizzieCro,

Many thanks for sharing projects with the community. I would encourage you to post a caravan renovation on the Outdoor board.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason

I've entered my post "Modern organic kitchen makeover on a budget" into the D.I.Y July Australia competition with the Label. However we don't seem to be getting our post into the competition projects page and it's failing to show us as an entry. Please help. We entered before the deadline but are worried we won't be considered.

Thank you for your assistance.
