Australia’s wonderful climate ensures we can enjoy our backyards all year round, whether its pottering around the garden or entertaining family and friends with a barbecue.

Bunnings Workshop members have shared many inspiring backyard projects with the community over the years. If you’ve created a special backyard, we’d love you to share it with the community, too. You might even get your backyard featured in the Bunnings Magazine.

All you need to do to enter our search for Australia’s best backyards of 2025 is hit Share a project here on Workshop and upload some photos and information about your handiwork. Make sure you choose the “Best Backyards” label before hitting Post.

All entries will be featured on our Australia’s Best Backyards 2025 project gallery. We encourage you to browse the projects already submitted and add your comments and likes.

Our categories for the search are:

  • Best outdoor entertaining or barbecue area – Show us where you cook and entertain family and friends

  • Best small space backyard – Size is no barrier to outdoor style and function, including balcony gardens

  • Best D.I.Y. garden feature – Could be a pretty arbour, dazzling fire pit, clever water feature or an eco-friendly update

  • Best edible garden – Whether you harvest fresh produce from pots, a raised garden bed or a dedicated vegetable patch

  • Best lawn – Show off your trim and terrific lawn or something long and lush

  • Best landscaping – Can include your dream deck, patio or pergola.

If you need a hand with creating your post, please don’t hesitate to ask. The Bunnings Workshop team will be more than happy to help.

Our judging panel includes Bunnings Workshop’s resident D.I.Y. expert Mitch Mclean, plus Ki Carma founder Steve Cassar, Tove Berkhout from EUFY, Karcher’s Nathan Briggs and Bunnings Magazine Editor Lisa Green.

Please note our Kiwi community members are welcome to share their projects on Bunnings Workshop anytime, and there will be a chance to get your work featured in the New Zealand Bunnings Magazine in 2026.

Entries close at 11.59pm October 30, 2025. For full terms and conditions, visit the Bunnings website.

Many thanks to our project search supporters Ki Carma, EUFY and Karcher.
