Can HardieFlex cladding be tiled?

Re: Can HardieFlex cladding be tiled?

Hi @damien-22,

The sheet you linked is a 4.5mm exterior HardieFlex cladding, which is designed primarily for external use and to take painted coatings. It is not specifically made to support tiles, especially if they are heavy or cover a large area. For interior tiling projects, it is generally better to use Villaboard, which is designed for wet areas and can safely support tiles. If you are only tiling a small area with minimal load, the HardieFlex might suffice, but for any significant tiled surface or heavy tiles, using Villaboard would be the safer and more durable option.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: Can HardieFlex cladding be tiled?

Thanks for the feedback Mitchell.
I would normally use villaboard but don’t want to have to buy a whole sheet for such a small area that I’m doing.
I have a big left over sheet of cladding and it won’t be in a wet area, so should be ok. Thanks!
