Upstairs bathroom floor that with plywood subfloor.
Hello @Lim1
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fabulous to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about tiling.
Sand and screed are often used to create a fall so that water flows into the waste of the shower. Generally, this is often the case when you are tiling the floor and it serves as the shower base. However, if you are using an acrylic or polymarble base then no screed is needed as these bases are formed with falls built into them.
At this point, I recommend checking the rules and regulations on bathroom waterproofing with your local council. Installing the tile underlay and waterproofing it might not be sufficient. There could be fall requirements or that this type of installation can only be carried out by a registered tradesperson.
Let me tag our experienced members @Vis-á-vis and @Adam_W for their recommendations.
