Can you paint tapware?

Tapware.jpegSpray painting tapware is an easy and affordable D.I.Y. project.

The first step would be to thoroughly clean your chrome tapware to get rid of all traces of soap or grease.

Next, take some 120-grit sandpaper to scratch up the surface of the tapware to ensure there is no shiny chrome left. This gives a great surface for the topcoat to bind to.

Rinse off any debris from the sanding process, and then tape up the surrounding area to ensure the sink, tiles and mirror have no chance of any overspray.

Now take your spray paint and do several light coats over the tapwear. Several light coats are much better than a couple of heavy coats, which lead to runs and don’t bind as well.

Wait for the paint to dry according to the directions on the can before removing any painter’s tape.

Re: Can you paint tapware?

HI Mitchell one thing to add is that all paints ain't the same as in you are not going to get good results from a $3.00 can of spray can as you are a $12.00 can.

Some brands don't require a primer or etch primer and some may. It is always best to read the label on the can or talk to the paint tech at the counter. At the end of the day you don't want paint flaking off 3 months down the track from taking short cuts or not using correct products.
