Convert handheld shower to Overhead shower

IMG_9585.jpeg

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to convert a hand-held shower into an overhead (fixed) shower, but the existing water outlet is not in the center, and I’d like to avoid breaking tiles.

Is there any assembly / extension / adjustable shower arm available that allows this kind of conversion without drilling or tile work?

If anyone has done something similar, I’d really appreciate:

  • Tips from your experience

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Re: Convert handheld shower to Overhead shower

Hello @Robk

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about converting your shower head.

Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing work must be carried out by a registered plumber for safety and compliance.

As a possible solution, I propose thinking about installing a Brasshards 15mm Galvanised Female And Female Elbow and a Brasshards 15 x 100mm Galvanised Pipe along with a Brasshards 15mm Galvanised Male And Female Elbow. I suggest assembling the three pieces together making sure that the elbows are facing in the correct direction. Make sure to use FIX-A-TAP 12mm x 8m Blue PTFE Thread Seal Tape on all threaded surfaces to prevent leaks.

When the extension is assembled slowly screw it to the threaded brass nipple on the wall. It's important that the extension finish on the lefthand side close to being horizontal and must be firm but not overly tight. Once the extension is in place you can then install either the Mondella Brushed Nickel Overture Shower Arm and Rose or the Estilo Chrome 3 Function 1/2 Twin Rail Shower Set. It is not a perfect solution, but it will allow you to position the shower head closer to the center.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
