I transformed our tired powder room into a bold, character-filled space using Bunnings products and plenty of DIY creativity. The room was colour-drenched in rich dark green, with Porta Timber moulding adding timeless charm. I wallpapered in a bold safari print for a fun twist, refreshed the existing shelf and hooks with paint, and gave the under-basin fittings a brass glow using spray paint. It’s now one of my favourite little rooms in the house.

Taping & Spraying the Fittings and Hooks
I masked around the vanity fittings and shelf hooks using Scotch Blue Masking Film and Tape. Both were refreshed with 2 - 3 coats of White Knights Super Enamel Spray in Gold.Taped vanity fittings

Sanding, Surface Prep and Priming
I sanded the high gloss trims with my Ryobi Orbital Sander and hand sanded the walls with a 180 grit paper to smooth any imperfections. Then I primed the walls, ceiling and trims in Zinsser Bullseye 123 for a clean even base.Sanding Gloss Trims

Painting
I first tried a peach but quickly switched to a rich dark green when it didn't suit the space. I painted two coats of Dulux Wash and Wear Low Sheen on the Ceiling and Walls, then used Dulux Aquaenamel in the same colour for the trims and shelf for a cohesive look.Painting over my mistake in colour

Wallpapering
I applied a bold safari wallpaper from ceiling to halfway down the wall, measuring and trimming each panel carefully. Despite the raked ceiling and uneven walls I managed to match the pattern. A proud DIY win!Carefully matching the wallpaper pattern
Wallpaper success!
Installing the Timber Moulding
I pre-painted the Porta Tiimber Moulding in the same wall colour, then I measured, mitre cut and installed it using my Ryobi Brad Nailer. A quick paint touch-up finished it off neatly.Neat Porta Timber Moulding Finish
Updating Fixtures and Styling the Space
I swapped the old tap and toilet roll holder for Brass fittings and then styled the space with layered textures, warm tones and vintage inspired decor to complement the dark green and wallpaper.New Brass Tap
