Does Bunnings have microcement kits for bathrooms?

Hi - Total newbie here 🙂

I would like to try a microcement finish in my ensuite - however i live in a rural area and there are no services locally who will quote for the job and I will have to DIY it. Does Bunnings have a microcement kit for bathrooms? I have seen a few older posts that say Bunnings does not do them - hoping that has changed :).

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about microcement.

I'm so sorry, microcement is still not available at the store. If you are thinking about rendering your walls, you can cover them with cement sheeting and rendering over that to give you that concrete finish you're after. There is also the option of using the Dulux 2L Design Concrete Effect Paint to give you that concrete look.

Hi Eric - thanks so much for your reply.

I was hoping to do a refresh not a whole Reno for the bathroom. I had decided on a microcement finish for the look but also so I could cover up the tiles (all in excellent condition - no issues with waterproofing etc). The whole bathroom is tiled (shower etc) and its quite a small area overall. My understanding is that microcement (or similar) can be applied in this way without removing or changing the existing tiles etc if the underlying tiles are in good condition.

Is there another solution that might allow me to render over the existing tile (with a flat or Matt look)?

Hi @joTol1973,

You'll find that Microcement is typically a trade application product as it is very difficult to apply as a DIY. You would normally want to employ the services of someone that has a great deal of experience applying it to get the desired results.

Although something best installed by a professional, you might like to check out Wall Art wet area panels, particularly the Wall Art 2400 x 1200 x 3mm Concrete Matt Wet Area Wall / Shower Panel and Wall Art 2400 x 1200 x 3mm Pumice Matt Wet Area Wall / Shower Panel. These could give you a similar look, without actually having to apply a cement product.
