How can I fit this dryer drain into my drain pipe?

I'm trying to connect my dryer's drain hose into the drain pipe. There's already an open pipe but that is used for the washer and it won't fit another hose. I could see a splitter but they are not open. Can I replace the pipe which is going upwards with something so I can fit two hoses in? Thanks in advance.

It’s worth giving it a solid try to fit the dryer’s drain hose into the same standpipe your washing machine is using. The washer’s hose usually doesn't take up the full width of that upright white PVC pipe, so with a bit of fiddling, you might be able to squeeze the dryer hose in alongside it. Try slightly compressing the washer hose to make some room, and once both are inserted, securing them with a cable tie can help hold everything in place. This setup is generally acceptable, as the dryer drain hose only carries a low volume of condensation water from a heat pump, so it doesn’t need a pressure-tight connection.

Ideally, this hose would connect to the spigot on the trap at the base of your plumbing, but in most Australian homes, that spigot doesn’t align well with heat pump dryer hoses. These dryers are usually designed more for European-style installations, where the hose sits in an open upright pipe like your washing machine does. While it’s technically possible to try and cobble together a connection to that spigot using a combination of fittings, there’s no standard product I can recommend that will create a proper fit. Your best bet is to push both hoses into the standpipe, aiming for at least 10cm of hose inserted, and secure them together to prevent movement.

Thanks a lot for the comments Mitchell, I can actualy fit them into the PVC pipe, I just can't get both of them to go through the corner. Would it be alright if I just inserted the dryer pipe without going all the way through that PVC pipe?

Yes, that would be fine @yhon031. The heat pump dryer pipe only dribbles out water; it's not a large, powerful flow like the washing machines. Once you've pushed the hose in, cable tie it to the washing machine hose to ensure it doesn't back out.
