Hi Bunnings workshop,
I'm looking for suggestions and products on how to redo this small laundry nook. Open to either DIY (have beginner level skills but limited space and tools) or otherwise if a professional is necessary. I am thinking of either installing cabinetry to this space to assist with neater storage and to replace the open shelving but also to hide the laundry fixtures (the taps, electrical outlet and the hose) whilst keeping it accessible. Not sure if the fixtures themselves can be improved - the installer of the washing machine just used a large strip of packing tape stuck over the hose to keep it in place in the hole in the wall. The wall is tile so I am not confident of DIY wall mounting. There are existing holes in the top of the wall where a dryer was once mounted that could be used, however.
Thanks for reading!
Hello @qwertz
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laundry nook.
Installing a wall cabinet over the current location of your of your open shelves will be involved. The back of the cabinet will need to be cut extensively to accommodate the laundry taps, the power point and the exit hose on the wall. The cabinet will need to be packed in order for it to be level with the tiled surface and it will need to be anchored carefully so that it does not hit any plumbing and electrical services behind the wall. Due the complexity of the task, I propose engaging the services of an experienced handy person to mount the wall cabinet for you.
My only other suggestion is to install a work panel above your washing machine. I propose looking at the Specrite 1200 x 600 x 18mm Timber Multi Use Pine Panel and having it cut down and installed over your washing machine.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
