How do I remove top of Argent cistern inlet valve?

Question

In order to replace seating washer I’ve attempted to turn the top of the inlet valve (anticlockwise) but it won’t budge. I’ve noticed a small button on the right of the top body and thought I might have to depress this first, though I’m hesitant about applying to much force (with a screwdriver) in case I damage it! The toilet is an Argent, and the inlet valve looks similar to a Caroma one.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @willed. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about servicing an inlet valve.

I think you'll find the blue fitting needs to be turned clockwise and then pulled out. So, that arm that drops downwards gets lifted up. I've added an image below. Once the blue section is removed, you'll have access to the inlet valve washer.
