How to add an extra toilet?

Would like to add an extra WC to this layout. Based on the layout, Would like to seek expert opinions on the best possible way place to add a WC. Is it inside Bath or inside the ensuite in Bed1. House is 30 years old brick house on stumps. Thanks in advance. Add WC.jpg

The suggestion by @JacobZ for the all-in-one toilet and basin for the ensuite is an excellent one. Though you will loose that small amount of bench space, you will appreciate having a toilet. Being on stumps, the changeover will be minimal. You should be able to get away with only the lower back wall being removed to access the water and waste, with the waste from the WC going through the floor. You could consider a custom-made full width vanity cabinet with opening glass-mirror doors and LED lighting underneath to light the vanity. The cabinet could have a GPO for a shaver or hair drier etc. You may even find something suitable online both made-to measure and possibly pre-made being around 900mm wide.

And if this was my house and keeping in mind your desire in avoiding major renovations, I would definitely consider at some stage combining the standalone WC with the bathroom. Having the benefit of being on stumps reduces the complication of plumbing and added cost. Though there are some other areas of consideration in the renovation, it would be a relatively cheap project with a high-return in providing a considerable increase in size and bench space with storage.

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Having had a good look at the layout, I think the least intrusive way of adding a second toilet to your home is to remove the basin in the ensuite and add a combination toilet and basin such as this Caroma Profile 5 Deluxe P Trap Toilet Suite or this Caroma Profile 5 Deluxe S Trap Toilet Suite, depending on the location of the waste pipe.

This would maintain the current functionality of the ensuite, while adding a second toilet to the home without any major alterations.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jacob. I really appreciate your thoughts. One question - I was thinking if it's a possibility of installing WC at the place of wash basin and bring the wash basin in the middle. When we open the ensuite it will be was basin the the middle, shower on the left and WC on the right.

So, according to you adding WC in the Bath is not a good option, right?

Hi @bygine,

As the ensuite looks fairly cramped as it is, it doesn't seem like there is enough room for a separate toilet and basin, which is why I recommended the combination one.

There's no reason you couldn't add a toilet to the bathroom, but just looking at the layout of the house, it seems more logical for the ensuite to get one as there is already one right next to the bathroom.

I am also favouring the Ensuite as a second toilet. Right down to if you want a sink under that window and adding piping needed. It makes more sense having the two points seperate and as the existing bathroom and laundry (too much of a throughfare) are pretty full I would end up in the main bedroom as well.
