Hi everyone.
I'm hoping to buy this house, and before I do, I would like to know if it is possible to add another toilet and roughly how much it would cost. The floor is on stumps and is tiled. I don't mind if it's in the laundry room. I want to avoid an overly expensive job.
Thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @hazz. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a toilet.
The good news is that because the house is on stumps, you’ve got much easier access to plumbing than you would with a concrete slab, which can significantly reduce costs.
Depending on the space available, you might be able to reconfigure the cabinetry in the existing bathroom to create room for a toilet—perhaps installing it next to the bath or shower. This can be a cost-effective option as it would keep everything close to existing plumbing lines. Alternatively, the laundry is often one of the more affordable places to add a second toilet. If you’re happy to sacrifice a cabinet or section of bench space, there’s a good chance you could fit a toilet in there comfortably.
In terms of cost, if you’re working with existing plumbing and minimal structural changes, you could be looking at around $2,000 to $3,500 for a basic install. If new plumbing lines or significant changes are needed, that figure could rise to $5,000 or more. It’s worth getting a plumber to inspect the property and provide a quote once you have access.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
