How to add bathroom ventilation?

I am renovating the bathroom of a 1960 house.  One of the main reasons I am having to do it is the ventilation is very poor and the ceiling paint continues to chip because the jib is too wet to hold the paint.  What type of ventilation should I be looking at for a roughly 2200x2700 size bathroom with a. shower and tub?  It has one window opposite the shower that is not double glazed and will hopefully be part of the Reno if the budget allows.

Re: bathroom ventilation

Hello @heidi78

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom ventilation.

Before you make any alterations, I suggest having your bathroom walls and ceiling tested for asbestos. If the results are positive, you'll need the services of an asbestos removal specialist. If the results are negative, you can continue with your renovation plans.

Thank you for providing the size of your bathroom, on the condition that you have a standard 2.4-meter ceiling your room measures approximately 14.26 cubic meters (2.2 m × 2.7 m with a 2.4 m ceiling), a bathroom exhaust fan with an airflow capacity of around 100–150 m³/h should provide adequate ventilation. This ensures effective removal of moisture and odours, helping to prevent mould and maintain air quality.

For a ceiling mounted fan, I suggest looking at the IXL Tastic Mirage 3 In 1 Bathroom Heater Exhaust Fan And Motion Sensor LED and for wall mounting, I recommend the HPM 100mm Square Slimline Wall Exhaust Fan

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
