Hi . This house has only one toilet and a shower. We are looking to add one extra toilet in this house. Can you please help to find the best spot. The house is 1989 brick vaneer construction . Can you please also suggest how much approx budget I need to allocate. Thank you .
Hi @Krystal4,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Unfortunately, your options are very limited without altering the layout of the house. Is this something you would consider?
Considering there is a dining room as well as a family/meals room, could you perhaps forego some room in one of the spaces to add in another bathroom?
Ultimately, due to limitations in space, particularly in the bathroom, I don't think there is a way to simply add a toilet.
Allow me to tag @Nailbag, @Dave-1 and @JoeAzza to see if they have any ideas.
I think we're going to have to brainstorm together to come up with something. Please let me know what you think.

Afternoon @Krystal4
Mmmm Looking at your plans The only easyish place would be in the laundry, and removing the built in cupboard that is in the corner and placing some new built in cupboards against the walkway wall in the familymeal room (narrow cupboards)
You may need to change the size of the laundry sink to give enough space for a washing machine and the area around a toilet tho.
Costing is a little hard to work out, unknowns such as the type of flooring you have (solid concrete, raised)
Services being available to plumb into, waste from the toilet needs to be connected. Waterproofing of the area (as you will need toe xtend teh existingtiled floor in the laundry for the new section ) may be an issue. Water for te toilet itself tho this may be the easiest depending.
My first point of contact would be with a plumber and get a few quotes if possible to A, see if a toilet can go there and B how much a toilet would cost. The linen cupboard and new plastering in the hall you could do but the plumbing I would leave to the professionals.

Hi @Krystal4
Unfortunately I can't see anywhere to add another toilet without a significant sacrifice within the existing floorplan which I don't believe justifies this addition.
Regards Nailbag
Thank you for your reply. I am thinking of moving bathroom sink towards door and installing a toilet near window. Or can we make a room to add Landry and toilet outside in verandah. But I am aftraid of the cost. Thank you
Hi @Krystal4,
Outside of adding an extension, moving the bathroom sink towards the door and adding a toilet seems like it could be your only option, although space would be very limited.
If you would like to explore this as a possibility, I'd suggest speaking with a plumber for their recommendations as there are some requirements around spacing in bathrooms in the Australian and New Zealand Standards. It would be best to check with a licenced professional that this is a feasible upgrade before progressing further with your plans.
Let me know what you think.
