How to add hook to hollow interior door?

I have a hook with a gauge 8 screw. How do I go about installing this in to a hollow bathroom door?

Re: How to add hook to hollow interior door

Hello @olitim85

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about adding a hook to your door.

I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How do I fix clothes hook on a bathroom door? by @effbee. Another method is to glue a piece of timber 100mm x 100mm x 10mm or something similar in size using Selleys Liquid Nails. Screw the corners using ordinary timber screws, make sure to drill pilot holes to prevent splitting the timber. The purpose of the screws is to keep the wood in position while adhesive cures. Once the adhesive cures you can then screw your hook directly onto the piece of timber that's been glued to the door. Make sure to drill pilot hose for those as well.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
