How to add wall-mounted cabinets to steel frame house?

Hi everyone,

Planning to use the Bunnings how to video to install some wall mounted cabinets in my laundry.

Looking for two pieces of advice.

1. Cheap and sturdy recommendations for simple wall cabinets.

2. My house has a steel frame. How does this change the stud finding/drilling part of the installation?

Beginner DIYer here so very much appreciate the help!!

Re: How to add wall-mounted cabinets to steel frame house?

Hello @Aadhull

Thank you for sharing your question about hanging wall cabinets on a steel-framed house. Before we go any further can you please tell us the size of the wall cabinet you are looking for? Would it also be possible for you to post a photo of the wall you are mounting on? The Kaboodle wall cabinet set has wall cabinets ranging from 150mm all the way to 900mm. The Kaboodle cabinets have a solid 18mm back panel so you have a lot of options when positioning the screw.

There are other brands, but they are limited in size and only come in a single colour. Because you have a metal stud, the installation will be a combination of timber battens and two kinds of screws. The timber batten will be used as the mounting point for your wall cabinet. As soon as we have the wall cabinet size we'll be able to give you recommendations on how to mount the wall cabinet.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
