bath tub at new place is
1. Scratched
2. Squeaking and
3. Not sure if it is ok to do bath and shower combination as the weight would be a bit less evenly distributed. This one has a tap but not a shower.
How do i check if it is leaking or not, or may start to leak soon?
Is this a question for a plumber or some other specialist?
Hello @st22
The bath you currently have is not designed as a shower over bath it can only be used as a bath. There are specifically designed bathtubs for shower over bath functions. These have square ends, and they often have anti-slip spots on the surface that allows you to safely stand at the end of the bath. They are also structurally stronger and have a thick base.
The scratches on your bath are probably due to wear and tear. If your bath has a leak you'll see signs of it around the base of the bath where water might leak out or your floor will develop water stains. The squeaky noise is due to the bath flexing as it is an acrylic bath. At the moment there is no need to have your bath inspected as there are no signs of leaking.

Hi @st22,
When you do consider replacing the bath, I suggest the Caroma Vivas range, which is suitable for a shower over bath setup.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @EricL thanks for your reply. i tried a fridge magnet, it sticks on the bath wall. i think acryl is not magnetic. are you sure this is an acrylic bath? if not, what could be possible cause for the noise? thank you
Hi @MitchellMc thanks for the link. it is confusing as there is too little photos. i will check them out if needed
Hello @st22
If the bath is a ceramic metal bath a magnet will stick to it. It's possible that some of the adhesive holding the bath in place has become loose or worn out. This will cause the metal bath to move or flex and grind against the frame making a squeaky sound. Could it be related to a leak? As I mentioned there would be signs of a leak if your bath has sprung one. In regards to the shower over bath, I recommend looking at the Caroma 1525mm Vivas Anti Slip Bath which Mitchell has suggested.
