How to build a wall in a shower to create a ledge?

Hi There I am about to renovate our ensuite and I have to build a ledge for the shower.

I have a single brick internal wall and wish to add a wall in the shower to create a ledge. How do I build the wall so that it is tied in with the existing bricks and make it sturdy prior to water proofing and tiling of the shower?

Thanks @Nailbag for your information, 

Because our shower backs onto the lounge we can't use a Niche as the TV bracket is where the Niche would be, I have done the niche in our kids' bathroom previously but unfortunately this won't work here.

As for losing room in the shower we have a double shower in the ensuite and to lose 110mm won't affect the size very much at all.
