I would like to change this laundry tap into a lever turning tap.
Is this something that is easy to do? Which product should I buy?
Thank you.
Hi @Curious_Bee,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
Replacing a tap is relatively simple, but in some jurisdictions, it is still considered plumbing work that would require a licence, so it is likely best left to a plumber.
A plumber would start by turning off the water at your meter to ensure no water comes through when they remove the taps and spout. They will then remove the tap handles by unwinding the nuts from the front of the taps using an Adjustable Wrench, then removing the tap handles. They would then remove the spout by rotating it anticlockwise with multigrip pliers or a pipe wrench. Once they are off, they would use a Tap Spanner Set to remove the spindles.
Quarter-turn lever tap handles like this Shaw & Mason Chrome 1/4 Turn Lever Wall Top Assembly are likely a suitable replacement. A wall-mounted swivelling tap like this Shaw & Mason 120mm Chrome Swivel Tube Wall Spout should also be good.
The main thing the plumber would need to confirm is that the 1/4 turn spindles are a suitable depth for the pipes in the wall. Once they can confirm this, they will install the spindles, using their tap spanner set, then follow the installation instructions on the tap handles and spout.
You might like to consider our Tapware & Shower Head Installation Service. A licensed plumber will ensure everything is installed correctly so there is no potential for leaks.
