hi
back after a short overseas trip and I find these marks in bathroom sink. I feel them slightly (grainy feeling) when i run my fingers over it. Any idea if I can get rid of it or make it fade a little?
Hi @hisumesh,
It looks like it could be a bit of mould growing under the lip of the sink waste.
I'd suggest spraying it with some Selleys Rapid Mould Killer Remover, allowing it to sit for 5-10 minutes, then scrubbing it with a toothbrush or slim brush like this Oates Soft Grip Grout Brush.
Give this a try and let me know how it goes. I am happy to assist further if required.

Hi @JacobZ
@Thank you so much. For the past 3-4 days, I’ve tried using the Sellys mould killer as suggested. There is a slight fading of marks. Not significant though. Will keep at it for a few more weeks and see how it goes. If the progress isn’t great, any other suggestions?

Hello @hisumesh
I suspect that the plumber who installed your basin waste used silicone as a sealer. Water has entered the bottom section of the silicone and has allowed mould to grow. One other option I would suggest is to remove the plug and waste and reapply new silicone.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @EricL
Thank you for the suggestion. Any DIY guides I can follow for this? Or do you suggest I engage a plumber for this?

Hello @hisumesh
If you've not done any plumbing repairs before, I suggest engaging the services of a handy person with plumbing experience or a plumber so that it will be done professionally.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
