How to clean mould in shower seal?

Advice on  removal of mould from shower

I've used 30 sec mould remover, bathroom spray, grout cleaner, vinegar and baking soda.

The mould in the seal has continued to come back after some appear to have been removed

The mould on the grout is easy to remove with the products above

But the discoloured glass window and seals at the base of window have gotten worse and nothing appear to clean them.

Re: mould in shower issues

Hi

Try soaking cotton wool in bleach and leaving it sitting on the silicone overnight. This works for me if I do it once a month.

Otherwise remove the mouldy silicone and recaulk it.

Re: mould in shower issues

Hi @amichaelmedia,

Once mould gets underneath silicone, it can be very tricky to remove. You've already tried the majority of things I would recommend. You could try something like the method @Ambrosia mentioned, of soaking it overnight, but if it doesn't work, then removing the silicone and replacing it is likely your best option.

You can use a utility knife to cut out and remove the old silicone, ensuring you wear gloves and long protective clothing to protect against lacerations. When it has been removed, it is going to be worth applying a mould killer treatment to the cracks and scrubbing them to remove any mould spores that remain beneath.

Once clean and dry, you can use How To Apply Bathroom Sealant as a guide for reapplication of your silicone.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
