How to connect dryer to under sink pipework?

I recently purchased an LG condensing clothes dryer, which has an external drain pipe (15mm diameter) that I need to connect to the standard undersink waste connection point (1 spare). LG does not make an adapter.

Has anyone solved this issue?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @rsmg. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about connecting a drain hose.

You might like to read through these two discussions: Is there a Y adapter available for 2 washing machine drain and How to connect heat pump dryer drain hose?.

They both go into quite a bit of detail on connecting these smaller drain hoses. Really, it's a case of cobbling something together, as these hoses are designed to be pushed into a drain hole on a laundry sink, not connected to a trap spigot.

The Drain pipe from the Condenser dryer is smaller (about 13mm), and having it hang in the laundry sink is unsightly.

These drain hoses are standard to many European Dryers, and i found a solution on a UK site.

All items needed can be purchased at Bunnings.

Materials:

a) 1 x 19mm Drain hose (you have to buy 2 metre length) in plumbing section

b) 1 x Pope 19mm - 13mm reducing joiner (irrigation section - and you have to buy 5)

c) 1 x small hose clamp (for the dryer hose) in plumbing section

2 x larger hose clamps in plumbing section

1 cup hot water

method:

1) Cut the washing machine drain hose to length (I used about 150mm )

2) Heat the cut hose end in the hot water and push onto the 19mm end of the reducing joiner then put a large hose clamp on and tighten.

3) Thread the smaller hose clamp onto the dryer drain hose, and then heat the drain hose in the hot water, push it onto the reducing jointer, then screw the clamp tight.

4) Remove the cap from the sink drain pipe (there are usually 2 - 1 is normally used for a washing machine)

5) Thread the remaining hose clamp onto your section of washing drain hose, heat the hose in the hot water, then push it onto the drain fitting and tighten the clamp in place.

The dryer drain is low-pressure, so if you have tightened all of the clamps, it will not leak.
