Re: How to create and install a barn mirror for a bathroom window

Hi @Beginner20,

It looks like a fantastic project that I'd love to help out with.

You'll have to start by creating a frame to encapsulate your mirror. You can use two layers of something like this 89 x 19mm DAR Pine, to encapsulate the mirror and make the frame.

You would start by using a router to cut a rebate in the face of the timber for the mirror to sit in, then use Everhang Corner Reinforcement Plates on the back to attach the frame together with the mirror in place. You can then use glue and finish nails to attach the second layer of timber over the front of the frame so that they overlap the mirror and lock it in place. See the below renders for an example of what I mean.

Once the mirror frame has been created, you can hang it using a barn door track. These kits are designed to suit 35-45mm thick doors, which will be fine if you use the two-layered construction, which will make your frame 38mm thick.

Let me know what you think and if you require further clarification, please let me know.

Jacob
