How to cut down and re-seal a pipe for a vanity basin waste?

I’m in the process of replacing the basin in my vanity. I’ve gotten this far but the new waste doesn’t line up with the old pipes. How do I cut and reseal the vertical pipe so that I can align it with the basin waste?

Hello @heidi-23

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your basin waste.

Please note that any plumbing work or plumbing connection must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.

It's probable that the plumber will cut the elbow off and attach a new elbow on with the appropriate pipe extension attached to its front. I think the critical part is to make sure that the elbow and the outlet of the basin trap are in proper alignment.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
