How to ensure water flow after installation of hammer arrester?

Hi, just installed a new Sioux Chief Water Hammer Arrester ( 20mm Size A) onto my washing machine.

Install was quick & easy but now when I start a new cycle of washing, no water going into the machine during its pre programmed sequence.

When water is about to flow, you hear a quick hiss of air from the Arrester Unit.. but no water flow.

Ive removed the unit & re installed, but still no water flow. And yes, the water is turned on and flow check while the Arrester was removed.

And tips ? Or could it be a faulty unit ?

Cheers Coops

Re: Water flow stopped, since installation of a new water hammer.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @coops. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about water arrestors.

That certainly doesn't sound right. I've spoken to the Sioux Chief team, and they've suggested the most likely explanation here is a faulty unit. I do apologise for the inconvenience. If you can see our team in-store we'll swap the unit over. If you continue to have issues, we'd need to elevate it to the Sioux Chief technical team for assessment. From your image, you do appear to have it installed correctly, though.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Mitchell.

I do that tomorrow & report back.

Cheers.

Re: Water flow stopped, since installation of a new water hammer.

Update.

When removing the uint to swap it for a new one, a clear plastic bunge fell out of the Arrester as shown in the picture below.

There is no notice on the instructions but now after reinstalling the arrester without the bunge the unit is working as advertised & water is flowing.

Im not sure if the bunge is part of the system or not ? Or something left in from manufacturing  ?

But all seems to be working well & no banging pipes.

Cheers  MC

Re: Water flow stopped, since installation of a new water hammer.

Hello @coops

The plugs or bunge as you refer to them are there to protect the mechanism of the water arrester. If you installed it with the bunge installed it would definitely not function properly. But now that you've removed the bunge it should now function properly.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
