I have an old concrete slab laundry floor that I want to tile over. I was looking at laying cement sheets over the slab to tile on. How do I fasten the sheets to the concrete and do I need to seal/waterproof the concrete before laying the cement sheets? Advice please?
Hello @DollyRock
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laundry floor.
Cement sheets are designed to be fastened over timber flooring using screws and adhesive. On concrete, they are very difficult to secure because they require mechanical fixings that penetrate both the sheet and the slab. Drilling and plugging through each sheet are laborious and can compromise the slabs integrity, and adhesives alone are not reliable for bonding cement sheeting to concrete. For this reason, cement sheeting is not commonly installed over slabs.
However, in order to level the cement floor for tiling I propose using a Floor Leveller in order to achieve a flat surface for tiling.
