This plumbing pipe is under the laundry sink. It was connected to the waste water from washing machine, however, this hole is no longer needed. We tried to find the lid but cannot find it. Please advise where to find the parts?
Hi @Hiroko,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Can you advise what the diameter of the thread on the pipe is?
These Holman DWV Universal Threaded Cap With O-Ring are generally what you would use, however if there is a different sized thread, I would have to look for a different solution for you.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Thank you for your reply!
The diameter is 5cm.
Thank you
Hiroko
Hello @Hiroko
If your plumbing fitting has an approximate size of 50mm. I suggest using a Philmac 2" BSP Thread Pipe Cap in combination with FIX-A-TAP 12mm x 8m Blue PTFE Thread Seal Tape. I suggest putting three turns of the tape and screwing the cap over the opening. You can also try using "Glad Wrap" over the opening before using the cap.
Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing the opening in your plumbing covered up.
Eric
I’m sorry Eric and Jacob, the both materials were either too small or too big..
I checked the diameter again, the hole is 4.5cm.. if the screw bit included it was 5cm.
Do you think there is any parts that it can fit???
Hi @Hiroko,
The important measurement is the outside where the thread is, which you have indicated is 5cm.
5cm is roughly equal to 2 inches, which is the size of the internal thread on the Philmac 2" BSP Thread Pipe Cap.
This cap should fit, and the thread seal tape @EricL mentioned will help give it a nice, tight seal.
I'd suggest giving this a try.
