Re: How to fix a leaking laundry tap?

Hello @martinfreemason

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about fixing a leaking laundry tap.

I suggest having a look at this guide - How to replace a tap washer. I recommend first having a look at how your tap handles are fixed in place. Looking at its configuration it's either a hidden nut system or a grub screw at the side of the handle body.

The spindle repair parts could either be a tap valve or replacing the entire spindle if it is a ceramic type. If the spindle is light to turn and only goes 3/4 of the way odds are it is ceramic spindle. A standard tap valve often involves turning it several times to shut it off.

The general steps are to turn your mains water off, allow any remaining water out of your tap then remove the handle and spindle cover. Once those two parts are removed use your shifter to loosen up the spindle so that you can repair it. To fix everything back up just follow the steps in reverse.

Please remember to turn off your mains water before starting your repair work.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
