How to fix a leaking shower?

Hi,

We recently moved to a house where the shower leakes through the bottom of the glass door. It has recently been "renovated", but there´s a space between the glass and the floor of 2,5cm on one side, to 0,7cm on the other side (as we believe that the floor is uneven). As a solution, we purchased a Sandleford shower door seal to fit our 1cm width glass.

However- once we arrived home to install it we realized that the glass is cut "diagonally" and the installation is not possible, as it is made for glasses cut in 90º angle.

What would you suggest we do in this scenario? Is our only solution to change the doors of the shower?

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance, community!

Re: Desperate trying to fix a leaking shower

Hi @babes4babes,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

I'll start by briefly mentioning that anytime you are working around glass, especially frameless glass, you should always be careful, as even a small knock to a weak spot can cause it to shatter. Please consider the dangers and take any necessary precautions such as wearing gloves, enclosed shoes, long protective clothing and eye protection.

With that being said, if the shower seal fits over the glass but doesn't grab on to it because of the angle, you might still be able to use it; you would just have to stick it in place.

This can be done by filling the seal with Selleys Clear Wet Area Waterproof Silicone Sealant, then pressing it onto the underside of the glass and clamping it in place while it sets.

You can also install a Sandleford 12 x 1000mm Clear Shower Floor Channel underneath the door to help create a better seal.

If you don't feel these options will work for you, you should consider speaking with a professional glazier for their recommendations. They may be able to supply a custom seal or an option that will work for you, but they can also assist with replacing the glass if this is the only option.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
