Re: bathroom floor waste

Hello @GP

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom floor waste.

It appears that the mortar that was supporting the floor waste has failed and disintegrated. The general repair process will be to cover the waste pipe with another waste pipe so that you can fill the side gap with mortar and rebuild the lip of the floor that supports the floor waste. It is a bit tricky as the mortar fill has to be just right so that the floor waste is level with the floor tiles. Testing and fitting will be necessary in order to get the right level.

You'll need to allow the mortar to dry off before sliding the PVC pipe out of the way. You can then use Dunlop 310ml Tile-All Plus Premixed Tile Adhesive to glue the waste back into place. I recommend using Dunlop 800g Ready-To-Go Coloured Grout - White to fill the gap between the tile and floor waste. It is an involved process and if not done correctly could cause the mortar to fail and your floor waste to sink again. If you feel that the repair process is too involved, I suggest engaging the services of a professional tiler and ask them for a quote in regards to the repair of your floor waste.

Let me call on our experienced members @Nailbag and @AlanM52 for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
