Hello Community,
Just after recommendations for cement sheet filler as a part of cement board i have laid in laundry broke off.
regards
Rick
Hi @rick6947,
Have you got a photo of the damage that you can share? Different situations call for different approaches and materials, so I can't really be 100% sure with my advice without seeing it.
How large is the area you need to fill? Is there any kind of backing behind it?
If the damage is small or there is something behind the board that the filler will be supported by, then a general-purpose filler like this UNi-PRO Multi Purpose Interior Filler would be fine.
If the damage is a bit larger, I'd need to see it to confidently offer advice.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Jacob has covered the repair side well, @rick6947, and I just wanted to add a general note for you or anyone else reading along. If this damage is on a newer cement sheet that you have just installed, then you are fine to patch it as Jacob has described. If, however, you are working with older cement sheeting in the same area, or the house was built before 1990, it is important to be aware that many cement boards from that period contained asbestos. In those cases, it is best to have the material assessed before starting work. Most state governments have clear guidelines on identifying and managing asbestos, and it is always safer to check first. Here's a helpful guide.

Hello Mitchell,
Thank you for your response the cement sheet is new probably a 2cm x 2 cm bit came off from one of the corners half of the cement board is still fine. I guess i was trying to determine if i should cut it which would be quite a bit of work due to the adhesive or just repair it as tiles would be installed over the top.

Rick
Hello Jacob,
Thank you for your response i do not currently have any photos(washing machine is currently on it) the damage is probably 2cm x 2 cm bit came off from one of the corners half of the damaged cement board is still fine. Under the cement board is wood flooring as it is a laundry. I will be tiling over the top of the cement board.
Regards
Rick
Hi @rick6947,
I think that's fine, just fill the area with a bit of extra tiling adhesive to pack out the area before tiling over it. A 2cm x 2cm section is really nothing unless you are using tiny tiles.
