How to fix cracked shower screen floor tile grout?

Hi, i have a problem with my shower screen floor, the grout keep tearing apart from the tiles and crack, very likely is the movement, i have done the regrout with the duplop flexible grout and it still have the same problem.

Some people told me to regrout again and use the grout sealer, but in this situation will it work to stop that tearing crack?

If grout is not working, i am think of getting some silicone, but i also noticed some people doesn’t recommend that to be used on floor, since it can’t bearing foot traffic load. Is there any good suggestions?

Based on the photo you provided, the crack running alongside the edge of the floor tile while not located at a change-of-plane joint appears to be a fine, straight separation typically caused by grout shrinkage or poor bonding. This often occurs when cement-based grout is mixed too wet or not packed tightly enough into the joint. If the grout wasn’t pressed firmly against the tile edge or if there was dust, moisture, or residue on the surface during application, the grout may fail to bond properly and pull away as it cures. In these situations, hairline cracks can appear even when the tile and substrate themselves remain stable.

Another potential contributing factor could be minor movement or flexing in the substrate beneath the tiles. Even if the crack isn’t at a structural joint, any subtle shifting or deflection in the underlayment such as from timber flooring or a slightly compressible shower base can transfer stress to the grout line. Grout is brittle and will often crack before the tile shows signs of distress, especially along linear edges.

To address the issue, first assess how deep the crack is. If it appears shallow and purely cosmetic, you may be able to clean it out gently and reapply grout to touch it up. If the crack is deeper or reappears after repair, it’s advisable to remove the affected grout with a grout removal tool and regrout the area carefully. Make sure the tile edges are completely clean and dry, and make sure to follow the mixing ratio of water as indicated in the packaging.

Finally, to prevent recurrence, ensure all joints are clean and dry prior to grouting, use the correct grout consistency, and firmly pack the joints to eliminate air pockets or weak spots. In the case of cement-based grout, lightly misting the area during the curing period can also help reduce shrinkage by slowing down water loss. If you notice the crack widening or becoming more frequent, that could indicate a structural issue beneath the tile that may require closer inspection.
