Re: how do i fix this

Hi @inktrex666,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

To start, please remember that there are always risks involved when working around glass. Please ensure you wear gloves, long protective clothing, enclosed shoes and eye protection to mitigate the risks from shattered glass.

Considering the risks involved with glass, it is usually better to leave it to a professional. If you were to get someone out to fix it, I'd suggest contacting a glazier.

Generally, there will be a small screw at the top and bottom of the vertical framing member that connects it to the horizontal framing members. You should see a screw hole that lines up with a fluted section in the top and bottom rails.

If it has fallen apart, then the screw may have fallen out, which could be replaced, or the framing itself has broken, which would mean you might have to replace the shower door.

If you can take a photo of the top and bottom of the vertical framing member, aiming in towards where it connects to the horizontal framing member, this would help identify what has happened and potentially lead us towards the solution.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob

Re: how do i fix this

Hi @inktrex666,

Adhesives don't have much tensile strength, so when the frame swings, forces applied to that joint would likely pull it apart. I'd be very surprised if the frame was held together with silicone alone.

Can you see any holes in the frame that could indicate a mechanical fixing, such as a screw or rivet, was once there?

Could you possibly take some photos of where the vertical frame meets the horizontal framing member?

I will attempt to assist further when you have a chance to upload some additional images.

Jacob
