I have an old caroma toilet thats having an issue with dripping/running having removed the lid to the cistern, I have discovered that the float doesn’t seem to rise enough to seal the fill valve and stop it running completely once full (if I live the float just slightly it shuts off). The toilet seems to be a march 1979 manufacture (took a photo of the indented writing on inside of back of cistern zoomed and discovered a 3 79 date on it) so we are talking about a 46 year old toilet, the fittings all seem to be plastic and I have in the past replaced the arm that the button hits to start the flush process. My question is does the fill valve have an o ring and could degradation of this ring be the issue, also would this be an easy diy fix to replace this or should i call on a plumber? Any info on this would be helpful thanks.
Hello @BeccaAnn
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Caroma toilet.
The quick answer is yes; the fill valve has a flat O ring in its assembly. If you can post a photo of your filling valve, I'll be able to recommend which washer kit you should use to repair it. However, if the unit is too old and there are no spare parts available, you'll need to engage a plumber to replace your inlet valve.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Please excuse the filthy inner of the cistern!!!
This is the o ring under the cap of my fill valve, does look like it’s disintegrated a bit, would you have replacements for this?
Hello @BeccaAnn
Thanks for sharing that photo of your inlet valve. The O ring I was referring to is actually on the piston arm not the base. Your base looks to be in good condition; it's the other part we need to look at so we can determine if the O ring and stopper need replacement. The kit you are after is the Fix A Loo ballcock 4 that suits Caroma inlet valves. This spare part needs to be specially ordered at the special orders desk. This is the most common replacement washer used on older Caroma inlet valves.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
