How to fix leaking ceramic tap?

Hello

My plumber installed these Monopoly ceramic taps for me after I had initially installed Shaw & Mason ones myself on the bathroom sink. I hadn't realised at the time when I bought them that these S & M ones were clockwise, not anticlockwise. I'm used to anti-clockwise to open, so my plumber then installed the Monopoly anti-clockwise to open taps for both hot & cold for the bathroom sink - this was a few months ago around April. These have worked really well but in the last couple of days I've noticed that water is leaking under the flange for the cold water tap only. The hot one is fine. Any idea what might be causing this? Could it be that the ceramic seat assembly wasn't tight enough for the cold tap? I do use the hot tap a lot less than the cold one. There's no water dripping from the tap spout though, it's just leakage from under the flange. I've attached a photo, but not certain that this tap is the same one I have. Thank you.

Re: Cold water bathroom ceramic tap has started leaking under the flange - Monopoly anti-clockwise

Hi @LorenClayton,

It sounds like the spindle is not compressing hard against the breach.

Try removing the spindle and rotating this collar slightly so that it moves towards the base of the spindle.

If this collar wasn't set to the depth of the breach, the washer on the bottom may not be compressing and creating a seal, which would in turn cause it to leak.

Give this a try and let me know how you go.

Jacob
