How to fix leaky tap?

I've had this leaky tap in the bathroom for a while now because I can't figure out how to open the tap up to get to the washer I need to replace. I've watched youtube videos on this stuff but their taps are always different and seemingly so much simpler and easier to open up.

Short of calling a plumber to do it I figured I could ask the community and hopefully one of you guys might have an answer?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, @wbui1501. It’s brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about replacing a washer.

Have you tried unscrewing the section just behind the handle where the metal attaches to the tap body? There's a joint about 25mm behind the handle. The handle might be retained by this section. I'd try unscrewing it to see if it releases the handle. You'll likely need a pair of multigrip pliers. Be sure to wrap that section with a cloth to prevent scratching from the pliers.

The hexagonal bolt? I tried unscrewing it earlier with a wrench but it was on quite tight and felt I might break something. I'll try again with some pliers as suggested.

Just to add to Mitchell's suggestion. Place your right hand on the handle and your left hand on the skirt. Keep the handle steady and turn the skirt (the one with the red arrow) anticlockwise If the skirt moves and makes it tighter go in the other direction. If it is too stiff, I suggest following Mitchell's suggestion of using a multi grip and shirt.
