We have an old shower flick mixer and it has very poor water flow and we have lots of difficulties regulating the hotwater.
The unit was built in the late 80's on the Gold Coast..
Hello @micknjen
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower mixer.
There are two possible reasons you are having trouble with your shower mixer. The hot water cylinders pressure has not been adjusted properly, and you can't get a nice balanced mix. It's either the hot water overpowers the cold water or the cold water overpowers the hot water providing you with an unpleasant showering experience. The other reason is that the former owner installed the wrong shower mixer and chose a low-pressure system instead of an equal pressure set.
You can try to replace the shower head that operates on a lower pressure such as the Flexispray Chrome Bermuda 3 Function Wall Shower Rose WELS 3 Star 9L/min in combination with Shower Accessory Wall Plate Tube & Arm 45 Degree - Chrome. The second option is to engage the services of a licensed plumber to adjust the water pressure of your hot water cylinder. This would also be a good time to ask them about the health of your HWC and find out if it is still intact or has sprung a leak.
The last option would be to have your shower mixer replaced, but I would recommend asking your plumber for quote so that you'll have an idea of how much this type of repair will cost.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
