Hi
We just moved into to our new home (which is 2 years old) and noticed that the shower floor has a small crack. Can I just patch this with a pre-mixed grout, or should I rake it first and then fill it up?
Thanks!
Darrell
Hi Darrell (@dadadell),
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Considering the small size, there's a chance you'd struggle to get new grout to bond to the old stuff purely because there'd be such a small contact area.
You could always just top it up with some grout and see how you go. If you have any issues, you can always rake it out and top things up.
You can use a grout saw to remove the grout, then top it up with some Dunlop coloured grout in the closest colour to your existing grout.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Jacob.
If I were to rake it out how big or how further should I go? Also is this something super urgent that I should do?
Hello @dadadell
I suggest digging out at least 100mm of the grout in length to make sure you get all of the old grout that has deteriorated. It would be best to address this issue as soon as you have the time. Delaying this repair could cause water to enter the gap and go under the tiles.
