Hi there. I am having some troubles here. After removing loads of silicon and then removing the spindle, the shaft seems to be stuck on both hot and cold. It appears that there are no flat areas to grasp on to. I have new caroma taps to install. I appreciate any guidance.
Hi @DIYMandy,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
This hex-shaped section here is what you need to utilise to rotate the spindle out.

You can use a Craftright 6 Piece Tap Spanner Set to grip the spindle and rotate it anti-clockwise to remove it.
If the spindle is still stuck, you could try soaking it with some CLR Ready To Use Calcium Lime Rust Remover to help break up any sediment deposits that could be contributing.
If you still can't get the spindle out, you could try heating it with a hair dryer or heat gun, then rotating it off with your tap spanner. If you choose to use a heat gun, please be aware that they will get very hot and the spindle will get very hot, so wear gloves and a long work shirt while using it.
If you still have no luck, it is time to call a plumber.
Let me know how you go and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
