How to make cupboard doors?

Hi everyone,

I need to get doors to attach to this cabinet in my laundry.

I want the doors to be above the washing machine attaching the the existing carcass.

I’m not fussed on door configuration, it can be one or 2.

measurements are 1420mm height and 660mm width. See pic!

if anyone could suggest the best way of  how to do this I would appreciate the help! Thanks 😊

Re: How to make cupboard doors?

Hi @aprildavies,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Unfortunately, as the 660mm width is a non-standard size, you would need to create a custom door.

The simplest way to do this would be to cut a piece of CUSTOMpine White Matt Particleboard to dimension using a circular saw, then cover the cut edges with Iron-on Melamine Edge. You can use How To Cut Laminate Benchtop as a guide for getting nice square cuts.

Once the door is cut and wrapped, you would need to attach some overlay hinges to the cabinet and door. As the cabinet hinges need to be rebated into the door, you could use either the Hafele Hinge Mounting Kit or Kreg Concealed Hinge Jig to achieve this.

Once the rebate is cut, then you would just screw the hinge to the door and then the cabinet, then adjust the door to fit.

This wouldn't be too difficult to D.I.Y., but if you needed assistance with this, a cabinetmaker would be able to help.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
