Re: How to make soft close toilet seat stay up on an old toilet

Hello @Wellington1

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet seat.

If you have just recently installed your modern soft close toilet seat, it can be technically adjusted so that the back spacing is larger to allow the seat to lean back. However, this does have the consequence of bringing the seat out of alignment. If you look carefully at the seat mounting posts, they must be positioned close to the edge of the bowl rather than being close to the cistern. This will provide the gap necessary that will allow the seat to lean back.

If you can post a photo of your seat with the mounting posts in view, we can advise you if they are in the correct position or need to be moved.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

The mounting posts don't have any room for play

Hello @Wellington1

Would it be possible for you to post a photo of the seat with the posts included? This will give our members a better idea of its current configuration. We can then offer recommendations on how to possibly adjust it. However, if adjustment is not possible, it may be necessary to get a shorter or thinner seat that will work with your toile suite.
