Hi,
I'm currently living in a rental and have purchased a tumbler dryer. In an ideal world, I would like to mount it above the washing machine to save on space. Of course this can be difficult to negotiate with the landlord sometimes, but upon closer inspection it looks like somebody has already put bolts into the wall above the washing machine. Would these be acceptable to use? They look to be approximately the correct distance apart. Should I still check for studs and drill other holes if I decide to go down this route? The bracket guide says there should be three holes for mounting.
Hello @Callumb
The only way to be sure if those bolts are secure is to use a stud finder. If there are timber studs behind that wall, then it might be possible to hang your dryer on that wall. I propose adding a second screw to your bracket on each side to make sure that it is properly fixed in place. I also suggest checking if the screws are still anchoring properly and not loose. Should you ever get questioned about the mounting points, I believe that it can be easily filled and painted over.
My only other suggestion is to invest in a Dryer Stand Adjustable for Top Loading Washing Machine and Dryer Storage which saves you from drilling into the wall, and you can bring it with you to your next location.
