How to paint over Dulux wash and wear in bathroom?

We are painting the house and accidentally painted the bathroom with one coat of 1 step prep followed by regular dulux wash and wear. Can we paint over this with the dulux bathroom paint we should have used and if so do we do two coats of the correct paint.

Re: Paint over dulux wash and wear

Hi @aussieorchid,

Yes, you can paint over the Dulux Wash & Wear with the bathroom-specific Dulux paint. The bathroom paint is formulated for high-humidity areas and contains mould-resistant technology, so it’s better suited for bathrooms, but it’s not absolutely critical if your bathroom has good ventilation. One coat of the bathroom paint over the existing Wash & Wear is usually enough, but two coats will give extra coverage and ensure a complete seal.

If your bathroom is well-ventilated and you haven’t had any issues with mould, you could technically leave the Wash & Wear as is, as it should hold up fine. The bathroom paint mainly provides extra protection in more humid or poorly ventilated bathrooms.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Paint over dulux wash and wear

Thanks for confirming we have the bathroom paint just forgot to change to it when we started painting the bathroom so we will do the next coat in the right paint.
